1) Read pages 81-84 of text (Hoepper et al 1996 Inquiry 2) and respond to questions for SOURCES A3 >>> A7
2) Write 1 or 2 paragraphs explaining the BACKGROUND to the First Indochina War. You will need to address the following to be deemed successful:
  • Chinese influences in Indochina over time
  • Geography and treatment under French colonialism
  • Changes and Continuities brought on by WWII
Use the information from the class activities - Using Mapping, PowerPoint & Shambles Pad from Blog Page 2) and information from the Text studied in above homework task 1) and INCLUDE EVIDENCE where appropriate.

Complete the final piece of extended writing for Page 7: Answer this section's focus question : 'How were the Viet Minh able to defeat the French Colonialists by 1954? And, what was the outcome?

Copy all your pieces of extended writing completed so far to a Word Document and, taking into account the feedback given from your teacher and your peers, draft an essay as well as your time permits before class on Friday; you will use this to do the revision activity in class for your exam preparation.

NOTE: In class on Friday you will only be writing by hand in preparation for the exam - but you may refer to sources on your laptop.

    For the essay paragraph is it an introduction for the final essay or a body paragraph?

    The paragraph is the first of the body paragraphs. We will look at the introduction in the lead up to the exam when we discuss the possible argument and integrating source evidence further.
